We do understand that transitioning to organic shampoos can be challenging.
If you are trying our organic shampoos for the first time, please note that your scalp may take time to adapt to 100% organic hair cleansers as your scalp will undergo a detox. In simple terms, your scalp is being thoroughly cleansed and all the product buildup up from previous used products is being washed off. This process takes the first few washes because your scalp is trying to regulate itself. These first few washes are known as the transition phase.
What happens in the transition phase?
The strands may feel very dry too and you may even encounter hairfall more than usual.
The scalp and hair may feel oily / waxy. When you comb through the lengths, you'll find residue coming off as well.
Mix 1/2 to 4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (ACV) with 8 ounces of water in a plastic squeeze bottle, spray bottle or other containers.
Experiment to find a dilution that works best for your hair type (dry hair likes less acv and oily hair likes more)
After shampooing, pour the mixture into your hair. If you have a spray bottle, that works even better. That way you can spritz your hair with the mixture and massage it into your scalp. Let the apple cider vinegar concoction sit for a few minutes before rinsing fully with water
An acid rinse dissolves soap and other product buildup in your hair. In addition, it neutralizes the negative charges that arise in hair when you wash it in hard water. The hair strands contract, the cuticles flatten and the hair gets smooth and shiny. The need for an acid rinse depends a lot on how hard the water is where you live. If the water is very hard, then your hair could probably benefit from an acid rinse now and then, whether you wash your hair with conventional shampoo or natural soap. If the water is soft and your hair neither chemically treated nor particularly damaged you may not need an acid rinse even after washing with natural soap. Feel how your hair feels.
How long does the transition last?
While everyone's transition varies in terms of time, we've observed it typically takes 7 to 8 washes to adapt to our organic shampoos. For some it may take no time and for some it may take longer than the typical time window but you'll get through if you don't give up.
Do check the transition video linked in our highlights.
We hope during the transition you did not use any oil or mask as they delay the transition process.
Please let us know if we can assist you in any other concern.
